Aurora Bridge
Aurora Bridge, 167 feet above the water level of Lake Union. Officially called the George Washington Memorial Bridge, it opened on George Washington's 200th birthday in 1932. Between its construction and 2011, when 8-foot fences were added on either side of the pedestrian walkways, there were 230 known suicides here, a grim record exceeded only by the Golden Gate Bridge. Terra cotta figure from the tomb of the first Chinese emperor, thought to be a musician due to his hand positions and lack of armour. Any instrument he carried has long since crumbled to dust.

O'BRIEN who in the Bostwick Building, Tacoma, Washington, on October 18, 1893, during regular session of the Washington Commandery of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the U.S.A., did originate the custom of standing during the rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, the national anthem of the United States of America."

Tacoma City Hall since 1977; previously Rhodes Medical Arts Tower. Built 1930-1931 by John Graham & Associates. 17 stories. Though my camera was precisely centered, the bottom of the photo appears asymmetrical; this is because the building is built on a hillside. The two sides of the entrance are of unequal length, as the sidewalk slopes upward to the right.
